McClendon House Round out your tour around the area by taking a house tour and walking through the exhibits of the famous McClendon House. Located at 806 W. Houston St, this historic Texas landmark is one of a select few historical sites available for public tours. It was built in 1878 after the land was bought by a Texas State Supreme Court Associate Justice from Texas' first governor, Governor Henderson.  The family has saved a number of artifacts, which are on rotating display inside.
