Driving here takes about two hours and 15 minutes via routes US-69 and TX-103, making it an excellent place to escape the routine without driving too far. Sam Houston National Forest Covering an area of approximately 163,000 acres, Sam Houston National Forest was also established in 1936 and is another well-known nature reserve that draws visitors from all over the state throughout the year. Home to an extensive variety of local species of flora and fauna, this place is an excellent destination for wildlife watching, hiking, camping, fishing, and boating. Fort Boggy State Park Donated to the Texas Park and Wildlife Department in the 1980s, Fort Boggy State Park features excellent facilities for nature lovers and outdoor sports enthusiasts from all over the state. Welcoming over 13,000 visitors each year, this place features extensive wetlands, rolling hills, and meadows. Getting here from the Frankston city center takes about one hour and 15 minutes via State Highway 155 and route US-79.
