The town of Frankston, TX, is located in Anderson County and approximately 100 miles southeast of the Dallas – Fort Worth metropolitan area. Driving here takes about two hours and 15 minutes via routes US-69 and TX-103, making it an excellent place to escape the routine without driving too far. 3. Sam Houston National Forest

Covering an area of approximately 163,000 acres, Sam Houston National Forest was also established in 1936 and is another well-known nature reserve that draws visitors from all over the state throughout the year. Home to an extensive variety of local species of flora and fauna, this place is an excellent destination for wildlife watching, hiking, camping, fishing, and boating. Driving here from Frankston takes less than two hours via routes US-287 and TX-19.
