The All New 2024 Chevrolet Traverse

The family-sized SUV from Chevrolet, the Traverse, has traditionally been better at navigating suburban blacktops than rugged treks, but the three-row crossover has been revamped for 2024 with a focus on capability. It continues to be a roomy choice in the mid-size SUV market and is still available in cost-effective road-going versions, but the portfolio has been bolstered with a more rugged appearance and an off-road-focused Z71 version. On the trails, we don't anticipate that model to go head-to-head with the Ford Bronco, but its twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system is at least more capable than that found on the Traverse's other trims. The only available engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder, which is different from V-6-powered competitors like the Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, and Kia Telluride. For 2024, Chevrolet has significantly improved the Traverse's technological capabilities; all variants now include a sizable touchscreen infotainment system and a number of standard driver assistance features. Even GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving mode is a possibility, which would give the Traverse the advantage it needs to encroach on the area of its competitors. For the 2024 model year, the Traverse enters a new generation, replete with a tough new appearance and a new Z71 off-road variant. The Z71 model has a twin-clutch all-wheel drive system, all-terrain tires, and distinctive 18-inch wheels in addition to a slightly raised suspension. This year's range-topper, the aggressive-looking RS variant, which sports 22-inch wheels, a sportier suspension setting, and black exterior trim, replaces the Premier and High Country models. All Traverses come with the same 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 315 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the exception of the entry-level LS and mid-range LT versions. Early in 2024 is when the new Traverse is anticipated to go on sale. The Traverse will be offered in four distinct trims this time around, but Chevrolet hasn't yet revealed each one's price tag. Once we have a better understanding of how much each will cost and a more detailed breakdown of the SUV's standard and optional features, we'll make a recommendation here for which one represents the best value.
